Auditory integration therapy (AIT)

...

Auditory Integration Training (AIT) is a type of sound therapy, similar to the Tomatis method. It aims to reduce sensitivity to sounds or other problems with how sounds are processed. AIT can be expensive, and the lack of strong evidence supporting its efficacy raises concerns about the financial burden on families.

Relying on unproven therapies can divert attention and resources from evidence-based interventions that have demonstrated effectiveness. Research shows this approach is ineffective or can be harmful.

Side effects can include possible distress or damage to hearing. The US Food and Drug Administration has not allowed some AIT equipment to be imported into the United States because of concerns about safety.
