Developmental Social Pragmatic model

The Developmental Social-Pragmatic (DSP) Model is an intervention approach that focuses on supporting communication and social skills in children with autism through naturalistic, relationship-based interactions. DSP emphasizes following the child’s lead, engaging in meaningful social exchanges, and fostering spontaneous communication. The approach is rooted in developmental psychology, aiming to build skills in social interaction, joint attention, and play by nurturing warm, responsive relationships. However, DSP lacks the extensive empirical validation of ABA but has shown promising outcomes in enhancing child-led, intrinsic motivation for social engagement.
