Fitness training

Fitness training includes aerobic (e.g. walking, cycling) and anaerobic exercises (e.g. muscle-strengthening exercises) with the sufficient amount of intensity, duration and frequency to improve exercise capacity and strength. Exercises to improve flexibility and coordination (e.g. stretching, balance exercises) complete a fitness programme. The fitness training is guided by a health worker and, if feasible, performed selfdirected by the patient following education and advice.
