Turpentine

...

Turpentine treatment for autism is an unproven and highly dangerous practice that involves the ingestion or topical application of turpentine, a solvent derived from the resin of pine trees. Some proponents of alternative medicine suggest ingesting small amounts of turpentine as a way to "detoxify" the body, claiming it can treat various ailments, including autism. This is based on anecdotal reports and has no scientific backing. Turpentine may also be applied to the skin, but this is less common and similarly unsubstantiated as a treatment for any condition, including autism. Turpentine is a toxic substance. Ingesting or inhaling it can cause severe health issues, including kidney and liver damage, respiratory problems, and neurological damage. Even small amounts can be harmful. Exposure to turpentine can result in symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and chemical burns. Severe cases can lead to more serious complications like seizures, coma, or death.
