Antiobiotics

...

The use of antibiotics as a treatment for autism is an area of interest and research, primarily driven by hypotheses suggesting a link between gut bacteria (microbiota) and autism symptoms. However, this approach is not widely accepted in mainstream medical practice due to limited evidence and potential risks. Antibiotics can alter the gut microbiome by killing bacteria. The hypothesis is that by reducing harmful bacteria or changing the overall composition of the gut microbiota, there might be changes in behavior or cognitive function.

However, antibiotics also kill beneficial bacteria, which can lead to other health issues, including gastrointestinal problems, reduced immunity, and increased susceptibility to infections. The overuse of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance, making it harder to treat infections in the future. Long-term or inappropriate use of antibiotics can disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome, potentially leading to gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea, bloating, and yeast infections and other side effects.
