Lovaas Program

The Lovaas Program is an early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI) developed by Dr. O. Ivar Lovaas, based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It focuses on teaching foundational skills such as communication, social interaction, and daily living to children with autism through highly structured, one-on-one therapy. This program is delivered intensively, often 20–40 hours per week, and uses reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors while reducing problematic ones.

The program has robust evidence supporting its effectiveness, particularly in improving IQ, language skills, and adaptive behavior, though it requires significant time and resources.
