More than words

More Than Words is a parent-training program developed by the Hanen Centre, designed to help parents support communication development in young children with autism or social communication challenges. It emphasizes creating engaging, everyday interactions that promote social communication, understanding, and language. The program uses naturalistic approaches to teach parents how to build their child’s communication skills during daily routines.

While popular and practical, evidence for its effectiveness is limited but promising, especially in enhancing parental responsiveness and improving early communication in children with autism.
