Evidence-based therapies

Comparison of evidence-based therapies in autism, online database and competency definition

The main tangible outputs of this second work package result in the open database that bring together all the information collected on evidence-based therapies in an organised and accessible way.

Important Notice / Disclaimer

This database has been created with the aim of providing accessible and up-to-date information on autism-related interventions, based on available scientific evidence. It is intended as an informative resource for professionals, autistic individuals, and their families, and does not replace clinical judgment or informed individual decision-making.

The interventions included have been classified according to five levels of evidence: high, medium, low, harmful, and not recommended, in order to help users understand the scientific support behind each intervention. This classification is explained in more detail in Module 2 of the training course.

The inclusion of an intervention in this database does not necessarily imply a recommendation or ethical endorsement of it. Some interventions may have empirical evidence supporting their effectiveness in certain areas, but may also raise significant ethical concerns, especially from the perspective of the rights, dignity, and lived experiences of autistic people.

Therefore, we encourage all users to use this tool critically and thoughtfully, taking into account not only the level of scientific evidence but also ethical values, informed consent, and the voice of the autistic community in decision-making.
